We often meet people who are very successful in different fields. Some are more athletic than others and some people are more educated. However, the real quality or characteristic in a true Muslim should be his personality. A true Muslim should always remain humble and remember that he/she is only a drop of water in an ocean full of beings. This video is about the human Nafs or Ego and how we should always try to control our pride. The great scholar of our era recites a story of how one Pious Saint controlled his pride.

It is mentioned in The Jawahar Ghaibi {Jewels of The Unseen} that in this month the Companions of the Beloved of Allah Hadrat Muhammad (Salallahu Alaihiwasallam) may Allah be pleased with them all, the Taba’een {those who saw the holy Companions} and Taba’ Taba’een {the ones who saw the Taba’een} used to perform as a gift to the Blessed Soul of the Beloved of Allah Hadrat Muhammad, 20 Raka’h daily for 12 days.

If one can not perform this Salah daily, at least it should be performed on the 2nd and 12th day and the gift passed on to the Soul of the Beloved of Allah Hadrat Muhammad, because the Beloved of my soul (Salallahu Alaihiwasallam) came in the dreams of those who performed this Salah, and gave them the good news of Paradise. Seeing the Beloved of my soul, Hadrat Muhammad (Salallahu Alaihiwasallam) in the dream after his demise and giving the good news of Paradise just as if one saw him in real life.

It is mentioned in “Kitabul Awrad” that on the night the Hilal {visible moon} is seen, one should perform 16 Raka’h Nafl {voluntary} Salah, in sections of 2 Raka’ah and intentions {Niyyah} of 2 Raka’ah each and in each Raka’ah recite after Surah Al-Fatihah, Surah Ikhlas 3 times and after the completion of the 16 Raka’ah recite the following Salatul Nabi {Durood} on The Beloved of Allah, one thousand times:

“Allah humma raba ha-thi hida`wa titaamma, Was`a-laatil qaa ema, A ti muhammadan, el wa see la ta, wal fa `deelah”

The above Durood when continued to be recited daily for 12 days {one thousand times each day} after Salatul ‘Isha, and then going to sleep in the state of wudu, the reciter will Inshaallah Ta’la see the Beloved of my soul, Hadrat Muhammad (Salallahu alaihiwasallam).

—–

It is written in “Kitabul Mashaikh” that from the night on which the Hilal of Rabi-ul-Awwal is seen, if one recites the following Durood 1,025 times after Salatul ‘Isha:

“Allahumma sal’lee ‘ala muhammadune wa ‘ala alee muhammadin kama Sal’lay’ta ‘ala ibrahima wa ‘ala alee ibrahima, innaka hammidum majeed”

he will see the Beloved of Allah Hadrat Muhammad (Salallahu alaihiwasallam) in his dream.

——

In the same book it is written that any one who recites in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal one hundred and twenty five thousand times any one of the following 2 Duroods

“Assalaatu Wasalaamu Alaika Ya RasoolAllah” or “Salallahu Alaihiwasallam”

he will certainly see the beloved of my soul Muhammad (Salallahu Alaihiwasallam) in his dream. inshALLAH.

Verily, the most truthful of speech is the Speech of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The worst of affairs are those that are newly introduced, and every newly introduced affair is an innovation, and every innovation is a misguidance, and every misguidance leads to the Hell Fire.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Muharram is the month with which the Muslims begin their lunar (Hejira) Calendar. It is one of the four sanctified months about which the Holy Quran Says (what means): {Indeed, the number of months with ALLAH is twelve [lunar] months in the register of ALLAH [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred…}[Quran 9: 36]

These four months, according to the authentic traditions (Prophetic narrations), are Thul-Qi’dah, Thul-Hijjah, Muharram and Rajab. All the commentators of the Noble Quran are unanimous on this point, because the Noble Prophet declared in his sermon on the occasion of his last Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah): “One year consists of twelve months, of which four are sanctified months, three of them are in sequence; Thul-Qi’dah, Thul-Hijjah, Muharram, and the fourth is Rajab.”

The specific mention of these four months does not mean that any other month has no sanctity, because the month of Ramadhaan is admittedly the most sanctified month in the year. But these four months were specifically termed as sanctified months for the simple reason that even the pagans of Makkah accepted their sanctity. The sanctity of these four months was established right from the day ALLAH created the universe. Since the Pagans of Makkah attributed themselves to Ibraaheem (Abraham) who observed the sanctity of these months, they also observed the sanctity of these four months and despite their frequent tribal battles, they held it unlawful to fight in these months.

In Islam, the sanctity of these months was upheld and the Holy Quran referred to them as the “sanctified months”. Muharram has certain other characteristics special to it, which are stated below:

FASTING DURING THE MONTH:
The Noble Prophet said: ‘The best fasts after the fasts of Ramadhaan are those of the month of Muharram.”

Although the fasts of the month of Muharram are not obligatory, yet one who fasts in these days out of his own will is entitled to a great reward by ALLAH Almighty. The Hadeeth cited above signifies that the fasts of the month of Muharram are most rewardable ones among the voluntary fasts. It does not mean that the award promised for fasts of Muharram can be achieved only by fasting for the whole month. On the contrary, each fast during this month has merit. Therefore, one should avail of this opportunity as much as he can.

THE DAY OF ‘AASHOORAA’:
Although Muharram is a sanctified month as a whole, yet, the 10th day of Muharram is the most sacred among all its days. The day is named ‘Aashooraa’. According to Ibn ‘Abbaas the Prophet when he migrated to Madeenah, found that the Jews of Madeenah used to fast on the 10th day of Muharram. They said that it was the day on which Prophet Moosa (Moses) and his followers crossed the Red Sea miraculously and the Pharaoh was drowned in its waters. On hearing this from the Jews, the Prophet said, “We are worthier of Moosa than you,” and directed the Muslims to fast on the day of ‘Aashooraa’. [Abu Daawood]

It is also reported in a number of authentic traditions that in the beginning, fasting on the day of ‘Aashooraa’ was obligatory for the Muslims. It was later that the fasts of Ramadhaan were made obligatory and the fast on the day of ‘Aashooraa’ was made optional. ‘Aa’ishah said: “When the Prophet came to Madeenah, he fasted on the day of ‘Aashooraa’ and directed the people to do likewise. But when the fasts of Ramadhaan were made obligatory, the obligation of fasting was confined to Ramadhaan and the obligatory nature of the fast of ‘Aashooraa’ was abandoned. Whoever so desires should fast on it and any other who so likes can avoid fasting on it.” [Abu Daawood]

However, the Prophet used to fast on the day of ‘Aashooraa’ even after the fasting in Ramadhaan was made obligatory. Abdullaah Ibn Moosa reports that the Prophet preferred the fast of ‘Aashooraa’ on the fasts of other days and preferred the fasts of Ramadhaan on the fast of ‘Aashooraa’. [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]

We should all take advantage of this holy month and remember the ones who sacrificed their lives for this beautiful religion. We should pray nawafils for all of the members of the Ahle-Bait.

I have been reading a lot about the beautiful Qaseeda Burdah Shareef and found the background to be very interesting. The best thing I can do is share it with those who may not know, so here’s a little background information about Qaseeda Burdah Shareef.

The word burdah in Arabic translates to “mantle, scarf, shawl and Purdah or Parda in the Urdu language. So the full meaning of the title “Qaseeda Burdah” is “The Poem of the Scarf” or “Poem of the Mantle”
In the Urdu language it would translate to “Chadar wala Qaseeda.”

Qaseeda Burdah: Poem of the Scarf

The reason for writing this poem:

The writer HAZRAT IMAAM SAALIH SHARAF-UD-DEEN ABU ABDULLAH MUHAMMAD BIN HASAN AL-BUSAIRI (R.A) had become paralysed. His doctors and physicians gave up all hope of his recovery. Eventually in this state of complete helplessness and despair he composed this poem expressing the grandeur and excellence of Prophet Muhammad (Rasuluallah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Using this as his sole means of asking Allah Ta’alaa to cure him from his illness. He isolated himself in a quiet place one Thursday night and with complete devotion, concentration and sincerity/ began reciting this poem.

While reciting it, sleep overcame him. He had a vision of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). He told the prophet of his illness whereupon the prophet passed his blessed hand over Imam Busairi’s body. Through the barakat (powers) and blessing of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), Allah Ta’alaa granted him complete cure from his paralysis.

When he awoke, he found a scarf or shawl on his body which he had seen the holy prophet place on his paralysed limbs. This resulted in the poem being named “Qasidah Burdah” (The Poem of the Scarf).

In the morning when due to some necessity. he went to the bazaar (market), a pious dervish greeted him with salaam and requested him to recite the qaseedah which he had composed in praise of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). The poet said that I have composed many poems in praise of Rasuluallah (saw), which one do you wish to hear? The dervish replied: ‘The one which begins with, A-min Tazak-kurin (i.e. Qasidah Burdah)”.

Upon this request the poet became wonder struck and said, “I take an oath that no one knows about this poem. Tell me the truth, from whom did you hear about it?” The dervish replied, “I take an oath by Allah that I heard it from you last night when in a dream you had recited it to Muhammad (saw), whereupon the prophet became attentive towards you and because of its blessings Allah Ta’alaa granted you complete cure from your ailment”.

When the poet gave this poem to the dervish his secret became known to all the people and its barakat and blessings too became general for all.

When this poem reached Baha-ud-deen, the governor of the country named Taah’r, he so highly regarded and respected it that he would stand while listening to it. The qaseeda was also kept in a safe place by the rulers of that era and whenever someone fell ill, it would be used to cure the disease.

SUBHANALLAh.

Even without that history, Qasida Burdah is one of the most lovely poems to listen to and to express love to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) for delivering to humanity the blessings of Quran and Islam, the message of the one and only Creator.

Here’s part of the Qaseeda Burdah Shareef, the full poem has 10 parts and 160 total verses. Listening to and reciting even a few verses will surely bring many blessings into your life, InshAllah.
